Buxton driving test centre
The Dairy, 7 Green Lane, Buxton, SK17 9DS
Local road picture
Buxton is a hills-and-bends centre where weather, gradients and limited sight lines make observation and speed choice non-negotiable.
Practise Green Lane, the town’s steep streets and the open roads around the Peak District without memorising a single line. A safe speed before a bend and a clear plan for meeting traffic matter more than being quick.
Practise these skills
- Hill starts, downhill control and keeping a generous following distance.
- Reading bends, brows and signs before the hazard becomes close.
- Meeting larger vehicles on narrow roads while protecting your escape space.
On the day
Allow extra time in winter or wet weather and check the official centre note. Road conditions can change faster here than in the conurbation.
Practise on the real routes
Our instructors use the local road pattern as a teaching plan, not a promise of a fixed examiner route. DVSA chooses the route on the day, so the goal is to make you confident on the decisions that repeat across the area.
